Haiku
Yesterday we wrote haiku poems. Haiku poems are fun to write.
They are only 3 lines long.
The first line has 5 syllables.
The second line has 7 syllables.
The third line has 5 syllables.
We had lots of fun writing Haiku poems. Here are a few R16 have written.

The playground is cool.
The swing is cool when you swing.
The slide is cool too.

Science with Matua Jim
Matua Jim is an expert when it comes to things about Science! He came to room16 and taught us a few things about a 'Fair Test' and other things to do with investigating Science. Matua Jim let us investigate a couple of things. The first investigation was: " Would a marble roll further on a ramp with carpet or on a ramp without carpet?" We had to make sure our ramps were placed in the same position each time we rolled the marble, and we also had to make sure we rolled the marble from the same position on the ramp, we tested the marble 5 times on each ramp. By doing these things, we knew it was a fair test! We found out that a marble rolled further on a ramp without carpet! We thought this happened because the harder the surface, the faster and further the marble would go! Our second investigation was: "What rolls further, a heavy or light marble?" Again we carried out a fair test! Some of us had lots of different ideas as to what would roll further!!!!
